Over the past 5 years, we have tried to share
some Christmas cheer with the children at the
Casa Hogar, a public orphanage in Matamoros,
just across the border from Brownsville, Texas.

Each year, the Kleberg County Health
Department provides immunizations for students
heading back to school. Sunrise Rotary helps
with administrative tasks and provides balloons
and goodies to the kids after their shots.

| Readers are Leaders |
The Adult Literacy Council is in need of helpers
again this year. We will be asked to assist at
several Readers are Leaders programs held at
local schools. These programs are held to enroll
adults in need of tutoring. Our job is dangerous,
but necessary - keep the young ones busy with
puzzles and games.

This was the busiest "Shots" event since
we started helping out. Seventy-eight
individuals received over 150 vaccinations
at the health clinic.
Primarily school age children needing
shots before school started back up, but
with a few adults taking advantage as well.
Huge success and thanks to all who
showed up to help.
